Though his hba1c values were mostly on target, Marcus (55) realised his time-in-range was not as up to par as he desired it to be. Wanting to avoid major complications he started looking for an app that could help his diabetes management. In Hedia Diabetes Assistant, Marcus found just what he was seeking:
‘‘I use Hedia every day, for every meal, when my blood sugar is high and when I need to calculate a correction dosage. Most diabetes management apps only allow inserting different correction doses. But with Hedia I don’t have to do my average calculations and am able to know how much active insulin I have in my body’’
Marcus, United Kingdom
Getting a grip on life with diabetes
At the age of 24, just after finishing college, Marcus got diagnosed with diabetes type 1. Just like every newly diagnosed, he learned managing his diabetes through trial and error. Nowadays, Marcus is experienced with the lifestyle and having type 1 is part of his identity.
‘‘I used to hide my diabetes at work, but now I know people should just take me as I am’’
By using Hedia, Marcus is able to let go of making calculations and can easily keep track of his values. It is important to him that he has good control over his diabetes and does not experience lows or highs.
‘‘When I realised how poor my time-in-range was, it became my goal to improve this and be in range 70% of the time – to avoid long term conditions’’
Now Marcus uses Hedia daily, between 6-8 times a day, for insulin recommendations with every meal and snack, and when he needs to calculate a correction dosage.
